For the first time ever, the 2013 FIVB World League will see an increase in the number of participants from 16 to 18 teams, divided into three groups of six in the preliminary round.
Pools A and B will feature the top 12 teams in the world, while pool C will consist of the next best four in addition to Egypt and Japan. The Final Round, to be played July 17-21 in Mar del Plata, Argentina, will feature the top three teams from pools A and B, the winner of pool C and the host nation.
The U.S. Men's National Team finished second in the 2012 World League. It won the event in 2008 and finished third in 2007 and 1992.
In 2013, the U.S. Men will host Argentina, France and Bulgaria in the United States and will travel to Poland and Brazil to play those teams.
